Simpson - Revit Content Available

Ed Tallmadge with Kelar Pacific let me know that this was available today. Thanks Ed!

From the Simpson site (snip):

...At the request of our customers, Simpson Strong-Tie is creating drawings for our product offerings that work with Autodesk® Revit® software. You can download the models we currently have available, grouped into "families", from the links on the right... Here's a screen capture of their site:

This level of detail might be a bit extreme on a large project but used intelligently could be a nice addition to your projects. Be sure to note their willingness to put certain content at the head of the line if something you need isn't available yet. Just let them know.

That's neat. Although I am requesting they supply them as detail component families also.

Unfortunately, they built the families using Revit 2010. This puts them out of reach of a lot of users who haven't downgraded to 2010.

Someone needs to tell all vendors who are building families to do it in older versions so that their content can be available to a wider user base.

Holy mother over use of voids! It's nice that manufacturers are trying to provide us with components but the problem is they just know how to provide in a proper way. These are incredibly over modeled, do not need the voids, need to provide detail components, and need to be in 2009. At least they're actually modeled in revit unlike other manufacturers that just bring in their 3d cad. This is why we do everything in-house still and do not allow our users to download revit files :(
