Revit 2025 Some Keyboard Shortcuts Missing

Revit 2025 has been released and I installed it this morning. I replied to a question at Autodesk Revit's user forum regarding a missing keyboard shortcut to apply halftone to a selected element. I ordinarily would not consider overriding a single element to get a halftone appearance so the question caught my eye as unusual...at least for me. I assumed the missing command was for the right click options to override elements in view.

I find that Revit 2024 (and 2023,22 & 20) have multiple keyboard shortcuts for overrides (see image comparing 2025 with 2024).

One difference between my installation of 2025 and the other versions is that pyRevit is not installed for 2025. I disabled pyRevit for 2024 and the shortcuts are still there. No "path" is displayed for them either, which is "weird".

Is it an oversight or did they change something under the hood that prevents allowing for hotkey access to the command? Perhaps they could see that the shortcut was rarely used so it was decided to abandon it?

Regardless, there is at least one Revit user in the Autodesk Forum's that misses it and noticed right away!

Edit 04/05/2024 - Trey at Autodesk replied that they'll work to get them back in as soon as they can.

Revit 2021 - W Shapes-Column Family is Missing

The stock imperial architecture template has the W Shapes-Column family loaded with two types: W10X33 and W10X49. I was experimenting with new features and noticed the family isn't part of the 2021 content deployment, weird. I had to reload from the 2020 version to add a size.

If it's not one thing it's another.

Group Exclude Element and Rooms

We can use the Exclude Element feature on the parts of the model we assign to groups, like this for example (a workstation with chairs).

We can also include rooms in groups. Just be careful if you use Exclude Element on the room(s). If you do you'll see a hint of a room when you pre-select (highlight) the group but you won't find it among the rooms in a room schedule...because it/they is/are excluded.

A potential gotcha for users.

Where Did it Go?

I've caught myself doing this a couple times before and a question at AUGI reminded me of it. We can temporarily hide things using the Temporary Hide/Isolate feature. When not in use the icon just looks like glasses, more like sunglasses when it is in use, plus the turquoise blue frame around the drawing area and the slight shading behind the glasses too. One of the options available to us is listed at the top, Apply Hide/Isolate to View.

I've clicked on that when I really intended to click the Reset Temporary Hide/Isolate option instead. Later on I end up wondering where "that thing" went. Reveal Hidden Elements (little light bulb) helped me out.

If whatever you were missing shows up with this mode active then you did the same thing. The Apply Hide/Isolate to View option either applies your temporary condition to the element selected or the category depending on how you temporarily hid it to begin with. The end result is the same as if you used the right-click option Hide in View and either chose Elements or Category.

Next time "that thing" goes missing the little light bulb might need to go on.

If so the solution is pretty simple. When was the last time you checked your elevation views? Notice the grids in the image? Just make them tall enough to encompass all the columns and "she'll be right"!
