I have no idea how many readers of this blog are active users of this product. Just in case...
The Autodesk Insight 360 team has put together an industry marketing survey. The survey itself is HERE and THEIR BLOG POST provides more information.
What's in it for you? Take the survey, enter your email address and you’ll be entered to win one of ten (10) $50 Amazon gift cards. The survey closes on the 31st of May.
If this product is part of how you do your work take the survey now so you don't forget. If it isn't then consider taking the survey anyway; offer up your insight regarding why you don't use it now (see what I did there?).

Cheeky Devil - Support Requests
When Revit crashes it will often generate a dialog prompting you to provide some information about what might have caused the crash and a way to contact you if they need to. In the past I wrote about a cheeky response I used once about the computer I was using not having enough memory. In that post I encouraged Autodesk to put enough RAM into their software so I don't have to worry about it.
I was working with Camtasia the other night and I thought of this cheeky support request.
I was working with Camtasia the other night and I thought of this cheeky support request.
- Dear Autodesk,
I recently purchased a high quality microphone to use with my computer. Now when I open Revit it doesn't acknowledge this microphone at all even though other programs do. Camtasia works great with it. I've checked all the settings I can find but nothing seems to resolve the problem.
Here's the thing, I spent a lot of money for this microphone. I should be able to talk to Revit and tell it what I want it do instead of having to use this silly mouse all the time. If Revit isn't going to recognize it and do what I say then I think you should refund the money I spent on this microphone. The microphone works fine so it isn't fair to return it to the manufacturer.
It's just your software that isn't working properly!!
Is there a service pack, hotfix or patch I can download? If not, please let me know how soon I can expect this to be fixed, thank you!!

Filter Dialog - Hey Me Too!
Quick request, in the recent releases more and more dialogs are become flexible/stretchy. Unfortunately the Filter dialog remains steadfast and un-flexible, boo! We'd (well me and a few others at least) like it to be stretchy too! Thanks in advance!

Computer Specification Request
In response to an email I received today I'd like to ask for some feedback. If you are pleased with the current computer configuration you have please leave a comment that offers the highlights, maybe something like this?
Brand: MyFavoritePC
Type: Notebook/Desktop/Workstation
Operating System: Linux
CPU: really fast
RAM: wow that's a lot!
Video Card: swoosh
Hard Drive Configuration: Raid Array
Monitors: 12
Software: Revit, iTunes, Weatherbug
Comments: It's really really great!!
Feel free to add whatever you believe makes the computer really well suited for Revit. I don't want you to spend a lot of time but it would be cool to see if anything in particular stands out among those of you who have the time to respond. Thanks!!

Pick a Favorite Article - AUGI | AEC EDGE
The Summer 2010 Issue is just about ready, any day now. If it isn't obvious the eZine comes out after the end of the season it is named for. Well...somewhere nearish the end of the season, that's the goal. Stay tuned and watch the site for this new cover!
I know it is asking a lot but I'd be interested in hearing which article you enjoyed the most in all the issues of AUGI | AEC EDGE. I know that different ones will resonate with different readers but it will be interesting to see if any particular articles standout.
Our publisher is interested in including the most popular one in a special separate publication they do that features all of Autodesk product related articles. I hope I can cajole you into thinking about this and telling me via EMAIL and/or respond to the post at AUGI or LinkedIn.

Subject Matter Experts - Steel Reinforcement - USA
Wai Chu (Revit Structure Product Manager) posted the following inquiry on the AUGI forum. I've posted here just to echo the request...echo....echo... he writes:
Hi all!
Our structural product's team is currently searching for some USA steel reinforcement subject matter experts. We would like to do on-site research with you. We would conduct an extensive interview consisting of three (3) full days on site with one (1) day follow-up by phone or email. We want to do this during September 2008.
Very important:
The ideal candidate should be familiar with other software programs for reinforcement detailing in the USA. They should have lot of experience in detailing and reinforced concrete design, rebar modeling, shop drawing and fabrication drawing generation.
Our team has some budget to pay the candidate for the time they will spend with us for this research and interview.
If interested, please contact Wai Chu and Dariusz Kwolek
Thank you
