Revit 2020.2.1 Hot Fix Posted

Regarding my last post - a Revit 2020.1 Hot Fix is now posted.

Of specific interest...Autodesk writes:

Issues Resolved:
Fixed an issue that resulted in the loss of family data in some workshared models when family definitions had not been recently modified. This fix does not repair models which have encountered loss of family data, for more information refer to Family Corruption in Revit 2020.2

  1. Is this working for everyone? I tried the update on multiple computers and Revit 2020.2.1 doesn't want to open afterwards. Gets stuck on the splash screen...

  2. I haven't applied it myself yet. I know at least a few people that have and it is working for them.

  3. Steve,
I'd like your opinion on this: Should I now be re-downloading and re-recreating our deployment for 2020? Should I be simply adding the hotfix to our existing deployment? Or should I just leave our deployment alone and rely on everyone to install the hotfix through the desktop app themselves? Let me know your thoughts. Cheers

  4. If you can deploy the hotfix as part of your redeployment do that. Don't rely on your users to finish the process.

This bug just hit one of our projects that was upgraded from 2018 to 2020.0. So, the bug was in the base release. The user failed to patch up to 2020.2 (as instructed before we knew about the latest bug) and when they upgraded their project, all of the components were corrupt/ un-editable.

  6. I've seen one claim that it has happened to a 2019 project.
