Schedule the item and go to" fields". Find the parameter you want to change in either "available" or "scheduled" fields and click "edit". Change the Group parameter in the "parameter data" box and put a check in "add to all elements in the selected categories" and then put a check in the "category" area next to the items the shared parameter affects, hit ok to close the edit box and ok to the schedule properties.
Check your family, it should now show the parameter in the grouping you moved it to. You can delete the schedule you just created after without affecting the grouping.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12667239909572241338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9240097.post-64134812856994872802015-08-30T15:55:42.829-07:002015-08-30T15:55:42.829-07:00My previous comment doesnt seem to work in later v...My previous comment doesnt seem to work in later versions of Revit. I'm trying to tag the Elevation instance parameter, so that as we adjust the height of the object the tag updates as well. Have you found a way to make this work, using face based families?Speakman3Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16461626188537184378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9240097.post-71492127302023868912012-01-30T07:44:32.027-08:002012-01-30T07:44:32.027-08:00Thanks for the comments!

In the case of a wall outlet, no wall would only leave the "floor" has a substitute host. The outlet ends up looking like a floor outlet in a 3D view.

The default elevation parameter only ends up as a Type Parameter with Face Based, works quite nicely in the "regular" family.

Quirky stuff...Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14230364057800484763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9240097.post-81292510970027267822012-01-29T15:17:16.550-08:002012-01-29T15:17:16.550-08:00It works as expected if the family is 'saved-a...It works as expected if the family is 'saved-as' in the family editor with a new name, then loaded back into the project.....Alex Pagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15268015433371053587noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9240097.post-64571470200704887222012-01-29T10:29:43.696-08:002012-01-29T10:29:43.696-08:00ignore my last comment...

But later when they WANT Face Based, they wont have to redo them.

FWIW, i also just kill the Default Elevation Parameters, because in the project it ends up being a type property while the ambiguously unaccessible Elevation Parameter shows up as an instance, in the face based (which we cant tie anything to.
