Placing components at specific elevations has been tedious for quite some time because instead of providing a way to set an elevation/offset value first we have had to place first and fix the elevation second. For example an air terminals that are not hosted or face based end up on the floor. Equipment families end up on the floor too.
With the introduction of the
modeless (techy one word for "
it can always be open") Properties Palette we can see the elevation value and set it first! A
video is more
fun? Embedded below:
YES! So much better!
ReplyDeleteThe new properties palette has really changed the speed at which I work in Revit. If I were to put a number on it, I would say that I can work 25% faster solely because of the properties palette.
My last area of frustration is the resetting QAT. Revit decides at unpredictably random intervals that random sets of my custom QAT tools just don't need to be there.
If anyone knows why this happens please let me know. I would be forever grateful.
No more Air Terminals on the Floor?! Can it be true? Sing Praises. This is a long overdue fix.
ReplyDeleteGlad this is having the intended effect. Not to add another techie term but these are called "dummy elements" internally. You can set properties before an actual real instance is placed. Some Revit elements have always had dummies (e.g. walls) but not all so many were added in 2011 given we knew the mode-less properties would expose their absence.
