Computer Specification Request

In response to an email I received today I'd like to ask for some feedback. If you are pleased with the current computer configuration you have please leave a comment that offers the highlights, maybe something like this?

Brand: MyFavoritePC
Type: Notebook/Desktop/Workstation
Operating System: Linux
CPU: really fast
RAM: wow that's a lot!
Video Card: swoosh
Hard Drive Configuration: Raid Array
Monitors: 12
Software: Revit, iTunes, Weatherbug
Comments: It's really really great!!

Feel free to add whatever you believe makes the computer really well suited for Revit. I don't want you to spend a lot of time but it would be cool to see if anything in particular stands out among those of you who have the time to respond. Thanks!!

Brand: HP
Type: Desktop HPE-180t
Operating System: Window 7 64-bit
CPU: i7, 3.07GHz
RAM: 12GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4850
Hard Drive Configuration: 1TB SATA
Monitors: Twin HP2709m - 27" LCD
Software: Tons but main uses are Revit (all flavors), AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage & Freedom, and of course MS Office.

Comments:
Pros: The nicest and fastest machine I have used. Can support running multiple files in Revit along side Navisworks Manage. I love having two 27" monitors for Navis; one screen with open tools the other for just model viewing. Super fast processing and more than enough memory.

Cons: Which I could shrink it all down into a Laptop to take to site coordination meetings.

My old Dell M6500 was also a very capable machine for Revit and Navisworks.

Brand: Dell
Type: Studio XPS 9100
Operating System: Win 7 Pro 64 Bit
CPU: Intel Core i7 930 @ 2.80 GHz
RAM: 12 GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 5800
Hard Drive Configuration: Raid 0, 1 TB @ 7200 RPM
Monitors: 1 24"
Software: Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, 3d Studio, Starcraft 2 ;)
Comments: Bought it for the games, loving it for the production work. Nothing like turning on the task manager while rendering and watching 8 cores humming away.
Cons- I never thought that the hard drive speed would become my bottle neck. I will go for a smaller hd @ 10k with possibly a Solid State drive for the os.

Processor:Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition Processor, 3.33 GHz
Ram: 6 gigs
OS: Win 7 Pro 64 Bit.
Video Card: Dual nVidia Geforce 9800 SLi.
Hard Drive: 128 gig Solid State
Monitors: Dual
Software: Revit MEP

Comments: Between the ram, processor, hard drives, the gigabit network is the bottleneck. Always running multiple sessions of Revit models at 100+ megs each. When they get around 150 megs I try to cut it back to one session.

Machine 1
Brand: Custom Build
Operating System: Win 7 Pro 64 Bit
CPU: Intel Core i7 950 @ 3.07 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
Video Card: Nvidia geforce9400GT Hard Drive Configuration: Raid 0, 500GB @ 7200 RPM
Monitors: 2 22" SAMSUNG
Software: Revit Structure, Revit MEP
Comments: Custom build after not being happy with off the shelf offerings. Did benchmark testing on inhouse projects with up to 12gb of ram and decided 8gb was enough for our projects. Nice stable fast machine

Cons- Open times would be better with SSD harddisk

Machine 2
Brand: HP
Model: Z400
Operating System: Win 7 Pro 64 Bit
CPU: Intel Xeon @3.33ghz
RAM: 8 GB
Video Card: ATI Firepro V4800
Hard Drive Configuration: Raid 0, 500GB @ 7200 RPM
Monitors: 2 22" SAMSUNG
Software: Revit Structure, Revit MEP
Comments: Off the shelf Z400 with upspecced Xeon processor after benchmarking showed better performance
Again testing showed 8GB ram was enough for our Super stable machine, churns through most things, but will really perform when more multithreading is enabaled in Revit
Cons- Open times would be better with SSD harddisk

64GB iPad... still trying to figure out where the DVD goes. ;)

Seriously though, SSD and the right amount of RAM 8-16GB depending on project size seem to easily out-perform the best i7 for most tasks. Now, if only the MacBook Air had slightly more oomph.
